"Marin Sanitary Service and Marin Resource Recovery are nationally recognized as leaders in the recycling industry. With their help, the County of Marin has the highest recycling and diversion rate in the state."

Indoor Dump at the Resource and Recovery Center

The Resource Recovery Center’s indoor dump is the size of approximately three football fields. Built in 1987, it provides the citizens of Marin County with a clean, enclosed environment for the disposal of solid waste.

Here we accept all types of non-hazardous commercial and residential solid waste including yard waste, dirt, rock, concrete, demolition debris, large appliances, and other debris.

Each month, the Resource Recovery Center processes nearly 3,000 tons of recyclables using state-of-the-art equipment. A customized system of screens, conveyors, blowers, magnets, and hand-sorting separates dirt, sand, metal, wood, concrete, paper, and other materials for recovery. The Resource Recovery Center is perhaps the most sophisticated recycling facility in the country. Visitors from around the world come to observe our state-of-the-art facility.
